Rome was not built in a day. All roads lead to Rome. What is the oldest building you have stood inside? One hundred years? Four hundred years? Older? The pantheon, an imaculate dome which is swathed in marble, is 1800 years old. And yet, in a city which contains the Coluseum, Roman Forum, Vatican, Trojan's column, Trevi Fountain, St Peter's Bassilica and countless churches, the Pantheon is just another monument on the weiry traveller's list. I think that even after a lifetime of exploring Rome, you would still have barely scratched the surface of this ancient city. |
